Dear Members, Volunteers, and IEEE Enthusiasts,
The second quarter of 2026 continued the strong momentum established in Q1, with a vibrant slate of technical activities focused on cutting-edge areas including AI hardware optimization, TinyML, autonomous systems, climate analytics, healthcare, education technologies, and student engagement. Our chapter organized numerous expert talks, student chapter initiatives, and collaborative events, further advancing IEEE’s mission of technology for humanity.
We are especially proud of the successful inauguration of new Student Branch Chapters, the first virtual SBC Meetup, and active participation in regional and international forums. The dedication of our speakers, volunteers, faculty, and executive committee members has been instrumental in these achievements.

Student Engagement & Initiatives

In another significant milestone towards expanding the IEEE Computer Society ecosystem in Odisha, the IEEE Computer Society Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section inaugurated its 6th IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter at Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM), Bhubaneswar.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by faculty members, student volunteers, IEEE members, and university leadership. During the programme, the objectives and global vision of the IEEE Computer Society were presented, emphasizing professional development, technical excellence, research collaboration, leadership opportunities, and international networking available to student members. The newly formed Student Branch Chapter was encouraged to organize regular technical talks, workshops, coding competitions, industrial interactions, and community outreach programmes under the guidance of the parent Chapter.
The Chapter leadership congratulated the newly elected office bearers and expressed confidence that the Student Branch Chapter would become a vibrant centre for innovation and technical learning. The inauguration marked another important step in strengthening student engagement across Odisha and expanding IEEE Computer Society activities within academic institutions.

Continuing its mission of strengthening IEEE Computer Society activities across the region, the Bhubaneswar Section inaugurated its 7th IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter at Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM), Paralakhemundi.
The programme witnessed active participation from university administrators, faculty members, IEEE volunteers, and a large gathering of enthusiastic students. The inaugural session highlighted the role of IEEE Computer Society in fostering technical competence, innovation, collaborative research, entrepreneurship, and professional networking among future engineers and computer scientists.
During the interaction, students were introduced to the numerous benefits of IEEE membership, including access to world-class publications, conferences, standards development, technical communities, scholarships, and leadership opportunities. The Chapter leadership encouraged the newly established Student Branch Chapter to organize regular technical activities aligned with emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, Internet of Things, and data science.
The inauguration further strengthened the Chapter’s vision of creating a vibrant network of active Student Branch Chapters throughout Odisha to promote technical excellence and professional growth among future computing professionals.

The IEEE Computer Society Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section successfully organized its first Virtual Student Branch Chapter (SBC) Meetup, bringing together office bearers, faculty advisors, student volunteers, and Chapter leadership representing all seven IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapters under the Section.
The virtual meetup served as an important platform for interaction, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among student leaders. Participants presented the activities conducted by their respective Student Branch Chapters, discussed best practices for organizing technical programmes, membership development initiatives, industry interactions, hackathons, coding competitions, and community outreach activities. The Chapter leadership encouraged active collaboration among Student Branch Chapters to strengthen the IEEE Computer Society ecosystem throughout Odisha.
The session also focused on future activity planning, leadership development, volunteer engagement, and effective utilization of IEEE resources. The successful meetup established a strong collaborative framework that will facilitate regular interaction and coordinated activities among the Student Branch Chapters in the coming years.

The IEEE Computer Society Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section actively participated in the IEEE Region 10 Computer Society Chapter Congress 2026, held in Kathmandu, Nepal, bringing together Chapter Chairs and volunteers from across the Asia-Pacific Region to exchange ideas, share best practices, and strengthen regional collaboration. The Chapter was represented by Er. Hare Krishna Ratha, SMIEEE, Chair, IEEE Computer Society Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section, who participated in the deliberations on behalf of the Chapter.
The Chapter Congress served as an important platform for discussing strategies to enhance Chapter performance, membership development, volunteer engagement, student activities, technical programmes, and collaboration among Region 10 Chapters. Interactive sessions highlighted successful initiatives undertaken by various Chapters, emerging opportunities within the IEEE Computer Society, leadership development, and the effective utilization of IEEE resources to maximize member value. The event also facilitated networking with IEEE Computer Society leaders and volunteers from different countries, fostering future opportunities for technical collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Participation in the Chapter Congress enabled the Bhubaneswar Section to gain valuable insights into global best practices in Chapter management and strategic planning. The experience will contribute to further strengthening the Chapter’s technical activities, expanding student engagement, and enhancing the overall impact of IEEE Computer Society initiatives within the Bhubaneswar Section.
27 May 2026: 2nd EC Meeting held
The IEEE Computer Society Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section conducted its Second Executive Committee (EC) Meeting to review the Chapter’s progress during the second quarter of 2026 and to plan future technical and professional activities.
Members of the Executive Committee reviewed the successful organization of expert lectures, Student Branch Chapter activities, membership growth, financial status, and collaboration opportunities with academic institutions and industry partners. The meeting also discussed the roadmap for upcoming technical events, distinguished lectures, student engagement initiatives, professional development programmes, and Chapter publications.
Several strategic decisions were taken to further strengthen volunteer participation, improve outreach activities, enhance industry-academia collaboration, and expand IEEE Computer Society membership across the Bhubaneswar Section. The meeting concluded with appreciation for the contributions of volunteers, faculty advisors, speakers, and Executive Committee members whose continued support has enabled the Chapter to maintain a vibrant programme of activities.
Overall Impact of Q2 2026 Activities
The second quarter of 2026 marked another highly productive and impactful period for the IEEE Computer Society Chapter, Bhubaneswar Section. Through a carefully curated series of expert lectures, Student Branch Chapter initiatives, leadership interactions, and executive committee meetings, the Chapter continued to strengthen its commitment to promoting technical excellence, professional development, and knowledge dissemination among IEEE members.
The technical programmes addressed several frontier research domains, including quantum computing, healthcare analytics, cloud-edge computing, recommender systems, climate informatics, drone technologies, educational technologies, TinyML, swarm intelligence, AI hardware optimization, and smart cities. Collectively, these activities exposed participants to the latest technological developments while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among academia, industry, and research organizations.
The inauguration of two new IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapters and the successful organization of the first Virtual Student Branch Chapter Meetup further expanded the Chapter’s student engagement initiatives. These milestones strengthened the Chapter’s growing network of student volunteers and created new opportunities for leadership development, technical collaboration, and professional networking across institutions.
Overall, Q2 2026 witnessed sustained participation from IEEE members, students, faculty members, and researchers, reaffirming the Chapter’s position as one of the most active IEEE Computer Society Chapters in Region 10. The continued dedication of distinguished speakers, Executive Committee members, faculty advisors, volunteers, and student leaders has enabled the Chapter to successfully advance the mission of the IEEE Computer Society by fostering innovation, technical excellence, and collaboration in the computing community.
