The Geographic Activities Committee is a standing committee of the IEEE Computer Society’s MGA Board.

To promote membership activities within the Society, at the chapter, section, regional, national, and international level the Geographic Activities Committee:

  • Oversees and supports the Computer Society’s Section Chapters, Joint Chapters and Student Branch Chapters
  • Maintains Regional Committees, Area Committees and Student Activities Committees of the Society
  • Authorizes and oversees, either directly, or through its committees, all geographically based membership activities
  • Authorizes and oversees global membership activities (except global Student and/or Young Professional Activities – see SYP Committee)
  • Represents the Society both within IEEE and to external organisations

The Region-10 Geographic Activities Committee is a Sub-Committee of the IEEE Computer Society’s GAC.

To promote membership activities within the Society, at the chapter, section, national, regional, the R10 – Geographic Activities Committee:

  • Oversees and supports the Computer Society’s Section Chapters, Joint Chapters and Student Branch Chapters in R10
  • Maintains Sub-Committees including Area Committees and Student Activities Committees of the Society in R10
  • Authorises and oversees, either directly, or through its committees, all geographically based membership activities in R10
  • Authorizes and oversees global membership activities (except global Student and/or Young Professional Activities – see SYP Committee) in R10
  • Represents the Society both within IEEE and to external organisations in R10

Structure

The Regional Committee includes the Regional Coordinator as its chair, a vice chair, all Area Coordinator within the region, and up to three additional members. The Chair and Vice Chair shall be appointed by the Vice Chair (Geographic Activities) of MGA Board. The Area Coordinators shall be appointed by their Area Committee where possible. The remaining members shall be appointed by the Regional Coordinator.
