Dear Region10 IEEE Computer Society members,
Happy New Year 2025.
In 2024, we have organized many activities in hybrid and in-person mode. Besides that, for the past 3 years, Region 10 Computer Society have continuously increased the number of members, student chapters and activities. I hope in 2025 we can organize more IEEE Computer Society (CS) activities especially in Region 10. I would like to thank all the Region 10 IEEE CS GAC, Chapter Chairs and volunteers for their continuous effort in organizing many innovative programs in 2024.
Region 10 IEEE CS have organized several programs in 2024. The Region 10 CS Chapter Congress was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 8-10 March 2024. The meeting was attended by Region 10 CS GAC and Chapter Chairs from Region 10. The Welcome Address was delivered by IEEE Computer Society President and David Bondurant, Chair, CS GAC. The Region 10 IEEE CS goals and programs was presented during the congress. The Chapter Chairs presented their Chapter activities and future plans.
The second Region 10 IEEE Computer Society Summer School was hosted in VIT, Vellore, India from 23-27 Sep 2024. This annual program is one of the successful in-person events organized by Region10 CS. A total of 36 third and final year students from Region 10 took part in the event. The 5-day program is divided into 2 sessions; talks/lectures by DVP Speakers are organized in the morning and in the evening the participants are involved in the hands-on session.
Three IEEE Computer Society Chapters from Region 10; Sri Lanka, Kerala and Chennai Chapters participated in the in-person IEEE CS DVP Roadshow organized from 20-31 August 2024. The 2-weeks roadshow with 14 DVP talks delivered by Region 10 DVP speaker Mohamed Rawidean Mohd Kassim. The roadshow was held in Colombo, Kochi, Trivandrum, Pala (Kerala), Chennai and attended by 2,200 participants both professionals and student members.
We have planned more activities for year 2025, these includes 2025 Region 10 Chapter Congress from 26-28 Feb 2025, Region 10 Summer School and Winter Camp, Chapter Chairs meeting (online), Student Chapter Summit (online), DVP Roadshow/Talks and IEEE VTools Tutorial. The R10 CS Chapters (including Student Chapters) are invited to apply for the IEEE CS Chapter Grant. The details about the Grant are available at Region 10 CS website (https://asiapacific.computer.org). Outstanding IEEE CS Chapters will receive the IEEE Computer Society Incentive Fund. The Fund is based on the Chapter activities and other criteria. Please ensure all your activities in 2024 are recorded in IEEE vTools.
